Success Story : URBAN

, a girl child from a family of five, was unable to complete her academic education after the 2nd year of junior college in Commerce.

Her father, Govind, was working in a private firm at Bhayander and earning an annual income of Rs. 48,000. Due to a poor economic background, Lilavati had to supplement the family income by stitching at home. She was earning a meager amount, however, being the eldest of her siblings, this became a necessary part of her life.

Despite a lot of resistance from her family members, she enrolled herself in the Smile Foundations 2 step program at EOTO. Since she was shy and low on confidence, she was finding it difficult to cope up and continue with the others. However, with the assistance from her instructors, she managed to complete the smile course with a distinction.

Today, Lilavati is employed at Westside, Kalaghoda. She is currently earning Rs 6,500 per month, and is given all benefits such as provident fund, medical and other allowances. The situation at Lilavati’s home has improved with a total monthly income of Rs. 10,000 (Rs. 4,000 as her fathers + Rs. 6,000 as her own). Lilavati and her loved ones are now able to see better days and the overall atmosphere at home has become positive and happy.

" I was good at academics but my real progress started when I came under the wings of EOTO. It gave me confidence to excel in academics as well as extra- curricular activities. Drawing being my favourite, I got a lot of encouragement from Each One Teach One teachers and staff to pursue my hobby and i could set a goal to make a career in Architecture.

I received a lot of encouragement from EOTO teachers to pursue my hobby and interest in Drawing. They also helped me to set a clear goal in order to make a career in Architecture. I have just cleared my entrance exam at the J.J. School of Arts and secured the 23rd rank pan-India. It was a moment of tremendous joy as I saw my dream coming true. All this has been possible because of EOTOs timely intervention. Thank You."
